An Intro to the Capsule Wardrobe (BLANCA-style)
‘What is a capsule wardrobe?’ – let us give you the BLANCA answer.
A curated collection of clothing that is pulled-back but put-together, so versatile, sumptuous and comfortable that you’re ready for (almost) anything. The physical and intrinsic beauty of this design – the capsule wardrobe’s innate ability to produce outfits for work, play, home and away with barely a thought. With a few seasonal tweaks (varying fabrications and weights) facilitate the desired temperature year-round with a minimalist wardrobe approach.
Traditionally a colour-deprived rotation (lots of black, white, neutral tones), our recommendations are an update to the classic – more vibrancy and provocation, more opportunity to play. Because a minimalist assortment isn’t mundane; it’s within these confines that we experiment, get a bit wacky sometimes, and evolve our personal style. We call it timeless with a twist.
What should you have in a capsule wardrobe?
Jeanne Shirt in White & Lorenza Blazer in White.
The Oversized Blazer
A staple of the BLANCA wardrobe from the very beginning, the oversized blazer has some oomph. Like a cosy shell or confidence-boosting outer, it’s a throw-on-and-go essential. Opt for the refined – perhaps the Luisa Blazer – for a work-ready stunner (made even better with a complete tailored set – see the Luisa Skirt). Have some fun with your second skin, adding a chequered print (chic but cool), or unleash a feminine colour palette and roar.
The Long-Sleeved Shirt
The Thelma to the oversized blazer’s Louise, a relaxed long-sleeved shirt arguably works harder than any other wardrobe item. Wear it to the beach as a sunsafe cover-up, layer it over denim for a street-ready look, tuck it into tailoring for an ensemble that keeps everyone in their seats (blazer on top – or swung over the shoulder – of course). A classic assortment of stripes, care of the Jane Shirt, and solid colour do well here. A special mention to the Jeanne Shirt – our answer to the Perfect Shirt.

The Relaxed Pants
Hard pants are rarely touched here; we prefer the fluidity and day-long comfort of relaxed, wide-legged pants. Suit up completely with a matching blazer and trouser set – a look that transitions from the office to the evening and special-event wear seamlessly. Retain the sophistication at home, styled with a tee or open shirt. Tailored shorts count, too, as a special (freeing) treat for the work capsule wardrobe.
The Denim
We’ll take ours in jacket, coat, shirt and shorts form, please. A basic that transcends time, denim has spent centuries earning a top spot in our wardrobes. Find a pair of jeans that makes you feel like perfection every time they’re pulled on. Play with the double-, triple- (even quadruple?) look. Always and forever.

The Coat
Come winter, a women’s coat that covers up and goes with everything is serious business. A trench coat with an exaggerated back vent and self-tie belt offers a lightweight option for the Australian seasons, or choose a wool-blend calf-length treat to get real cushiony, hibernation-style. Shop now to get a headstart.
The Layers
Something to wear under everything, whether for warmth or layered effect – a section of your wardrobe that deserves the same love and attention. We love a simple tank for its streamlined look and non-bulky proportions. Designed for every day and almost every occasion, one in each colour sounds pretty ideal.

The Footwear
A ballet flat, a strappy sandal, a loafer, a pair of stomping boots. Identify your most-performed tasks and initiate an appropriate vs. fun breakdown – which pairs do you need? Which styles ignite your sense of self and make you feel most put together? Don’t forget the importance of your hooves.
The Extras
A cap for daily walks and morning vitamin D. A tote for carrying basically everything. Jewellery that layers, mixes and matches. Silk scarves, an iconic handbag, a timepiece and treasured heirlooms. Keep a stash of staple accessories in a designated area, sliding on the signet rings and clasping the gold hoops as you leave the door. All set and ready for anything.
