Light Interval Studio Notes
With Ana Piteria, Founder of BLANCA Studio.
Which piece from Light Interval best captures the spirit of the collection for you?
It's so hard to pick just one, but I'd have to say the Gabrielle Sequin Shirt. She perfectly embodies the idea of a classic silhouette with a BLANCA signature twist. I love how versatile she is. I can imagine her dressed down with a pair of jogging shorts and ballet flats, or elevated with a beautifully tailored trouser for evening. For me, that sense of duality captures not only the spirit of this collection, but BLANCA as a whole.
Where do you find yourself returning to for creative inspiration?
Travel will always be my greatest source of inspiration. Of course, I love architecture and art galleries, but more than anything, I love people-watching. Every city has its own way of dressing, and I'm fascinated by how people use clothing to express themselves while responding to their environment and way of life. I recently returned from Lisbon and was so inspired by the Portuguese girls — their fearless use of colour and texture (they never shy away from clashing prints), balanced with an effortless sense of comfort and practicality for navigating the city's cobbled streets and hills.
Is there a city that has shaped the way you see style?
Paris, forever and always. I've been travelling there for work for almost two decades, and nothing compares. It's not just the influence of fashion on the city itself, but the Parisian approach to living — their attitude towards work, food, parenting and life in general. There's an ease and confidence that's endlessly inspiring.
What do you hope someone feels the first time they put on a piece from Light Interval?
Above all, I hope they feel confident and comfortable. Fashion should always be fun, and I want every BLANCA piece to make you feel composed and elevated while giving you the confidence to express a more playful side of yourself.
If someone could only start with one piece from the collection, which would you tell them to choose, and why?
I think our shirting (like the Bond Shirt in Red) or jersey pieces (like the Faro Tee in Brown) are always the perfect place to start. They were the foundation of our brand DNA, and they're the kinds of staples that can be seamlessly integrated into an existing wardrobe and worn for years to come. This season we've worked exclusively with 100% cotton and merino wool, so I know these are pieces you'll love and wear for a very long time.
